Unlocking Innovation for PV Quality Assurance and Reliability: TRUST-PV and ETIP-PV at Solar Quality Summit

News – October 23, 2023

The European Union (EU)-funded project, TRUST-PV, and the European Technology and Innovation Platform for PV (ETIP PV), are set to take the stage at the upcoming Solar Quality Summit on January 23 –24, 2024 in Barcelona. With a primary focus on advancing innovative solutions, TRUST PV and ETIP PV are positioned at the forefront of the EU's efforts to bolster the quality and reliability of PV systems.

Trust PV: Leading the Way in Advancing PV Reliability and Quality

TRUST-PV, a groundbreaking 4-year research project, with more than 12 million euros in funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 program, aims to enhance the performance and reliability of PV power plants. The project's core strategy focuses on supporting the development of operation and maintenance (O&M) and grid-friendly solar photovoltaic (PV) components and solutions for large portfolios of distributed and utility-scale PV systems.

The innovations produced have been continuously tested and demonstrated from the fabrication stage to real-world implementation, with all data collected across the value chain feeding into an AI-driven decision support system. TRUST-PV is a true industry-driven project consortium, bringing together 20 organizations representing the entire solar PV value chain.

At the Solar Quality Summit, TRUST-PV will host two workshops. The first, "Testing and Assessing Market Readiness of Digital Technologies," will spotlight innovations throughout the solar value chain, highlighting their field performance and readiness for market adoption, crucial for advancing solar technology and quality assurance.

The second workshop, "Preventive Mitigation Measures for Accurate PV Plant Design," addresses the vital role of accurate plant design in PV project success, exploring how to mitigate design-related risks and embed quality assurance into the project planning phase. Together, these workshops exemplify TRUST-PV's commitment to enhancing PV reliability and quality assurance through innovation.

ETIP-PV: Shaping the Future of PV Reliability and Quality

ETIP-PV is an independent, pan-European platform committed to advancing knowledge, development, and deployment of PV technology. It actively contributes to strengthening the European PV sector, aligning with the goals of the European Commission's Strategic Energy Technology Plan. ETIP-PV acts as a catalyst for tackling grand challenges in PV technology and innovation, with the aim of fostering research and innovation efforts.

During the Solar Quality Summit, ETIP-PV will host a workshop focusing on shaping the EU's innovation strategy regarding PV circularity and reliability. This session will explore how the EU's Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) can address challenges related to quality assurance, field performance improvement, asset bankability, and issues concerning PV warranty and contractual terms. By emphasizing innovation in these areas, ETIP-PV aims to contribute to the continued success of the European solar industry.
