Individual company presentation

For the solar industry, ArcelorMittal’s mission is clear: to deliver high-performance steels and advanced metallic coatings that exceed the complex needs of solar energy installations. With our steels for solar, we leverage our expertise in continuous hot dip galvanised steels to help the solar industry push boundaries in the development and deployment of renewable energy sources.

Our forward-thinking approach maximises sustainability, cost-effectiveness, feasibility, durability, and design, to help you set new industry standards. Our key-offer is Magnelis®, an exceptional metallic coating which provides an outstanding corrosion protection for steel parts.

With its unique composition and protective performance, Magnelis® is the leading coated steel for solar mounting structures, and is also ideal for floating PV systems in harsh aquatic environments.

Magnelis® ZM430 and ZM620 offer the best possible corrosion protection depending on the type of soil. Available on request, Magnelis® ZM800, with its 65 µm coating on each side, allows us to offer lifetimes of up to 40 years. Combined with high strength steel grade S550GD Hyper® or beyond, Magnelis® allows to reduce the cost of solar structures by speeding up ramming, providing weight reduction, increase of span and thus reducing the number of poles per installed MW.

Magnelis® is available as XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel with a CO2 footprint reduced by 65% compared with the conventional blast furnace route. This alternative not only aligns with our customers' sustainability goals but also enhances their value proposition and promotes the circular economy. Our innovative steel-making processes not only consume less energy but also emit significantly lower carbon levels, resulting in reduced costs.

With strong technical knowledge, backed-up by years of material testing, ArcelorMittal can support your engineering & material selection for each of your project around the globe.
