Summary

“Keep it Smart and Simple”: Streamlining Transactions to Cut Costs and Accelerate Growth in Solar Power

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Terrawatt Initiative (TWI) jointly present an initiative that aims to streamline solar project financing and development, through simplified open-source contracts. With a focus on inclusivity, the initiative features strong support and input from leading international law firms, financial institutions and industry players with a common interest in simplifying the legal architecture for solar power development. During this session, IRENA and TWI and some of the partners of the initiative will highlight how streamlined contracts can save project development time, reduce transaction costs, achieve a fair risk allocation and consequently, unlock greater investments in solar power. The event will present the approach adopted in preparing the set of contracts and launch the new website which will be used for the public review.
