Beijing Welion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Welion)

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Beijing, Welion is the exclusive industrialization platform for solid-state battery technology from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The company is a national high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, production, sales, and marketing, with over 1,500 employees, 35% of whom are R&D staff, including 40+ PhDs.

Welion pioneered the "in-situ solidification" concept, solving the critical solid-solid interface contact challenge in solid-state batteries. The company has built a comprehensive hybrid solid-liquid battery industrial chain and holds over 590 patents. Its investors include Huawei, NIO Capital, Geely, Xiaomi, IDG Capital, and multiple state-backed funds, with a current valuation of approximately RMB 18.75 billion.

Key achievements include the world's first mass-produced 360Wh/kg hybrid solid-liquid battery, powering NIO ET7 vehicles to over 1,000 km range. The company deployed the world's first MWh-scale and 100MWh-scale hybrid solid-liquid battery energy storage systems. Its products span energy storage (280Ah/314Ah cells, industrial/commercial cabinets, grid-side storage), EV power batteries (360/350Wh/kg pouch cells, 295Wh/kg cylindrical cells, 324Ah commercial vehicle cells), and low-altitude power applications (270-310Wh/kg high-power cells for drones and e-motorcycles). Welion operates multiple manufacturing bases across China with planned capacities exceeding 20GWh for automotive batteries and 20GWh for energy storage, driving the global transition toward safe, high-energy-density solid-state batteries.
