The International Solar Energy Society (ISES) is a non-profit UN-accredited membership NGO dedicated to the advancement of the utilization of solar energy and the transformation towards 100% renewable energy.
Founded in the US in 1954 as the Association for Applied Solar Energy, the society is active in over 110 countries worldwide today. The Society represents a diverse membership of academics, researchers, energy practitioners, consultants, students, businesses, institutions, and advocates.
ISES aims to help its global members provide the technical answers needed to accelerate the transformation to 100% renewable energy.
This is reflected in the society's official vision statement: The International Solar Energy Society (ISES) envisions a world with 100% renewable energy for everyone used wisely and efficiently.
To achieve this vision, the society focusses on several key areas of knowledge sharing, such as bi-annual conferences and congresses, the publication of two scientific journals – the Solar Energy Journal and Solar Energy Advances, monthly free webinars, an infographics series, a virtual solar energy museum as well as several educational initiatives specifically for young members of the society.
