Individual company presentation

TNO is the independent Dutch research organisation for applied research. At TNO we connect people and knowledge to create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way. This is what drives the over 3,400 professionals at TNO. We work in collaboration with partners and focus on nine domains, including Energy Transition.

TNO's ambition is to work with knowledge institutions, companies and the government to accelerate the energy transition so that, by 2050, Europe and the Netherlands have reached an energy system without any CO₂ emissions. In our vision, the creation of a sustainable future and new business activities go hand in hand.

TNO conducts research in many areas and develops new methods to increase the performance of solar cells and solar panels and to reduce production costs. Many solar panels worldwide contain technology developed by TNO. We are continuously expanding this unique knowledge position to make the use of solar energy grow significantly. In recent years, we have succeeded in increasing the efficiency of various types of solar cells and the modules in which they are incorporated and in reducing production costs. What we develop in the lab, we make industrially applicable and scalable, in cooperation with European and national consortia: industry, governments and knowledge institutes.

This way, TNO is at the forefront of high efficiency solar technology that is affordable and socially acceptable.
