The planned regulatory changes are being awaited with anticipation and great uncertainty in the solar and energy storage sectors: The proposed 2027 EEG reform and the associated grid package aim to integrate renewable energy into the electricity system through stronger market integration and to minimize deficits in the power grid through regional control mechanisms. The time pressure resulting from the impending expiration of the current EEG at the end of 2026 is increasing the pressure to negotiate and calls for a swift legislative process.
The consequences of the planned regulatory changes for the PV industry and PV system operators will be discussed in this webinar as the parliamentary process begins.

Carsten Körnig
Carsten Körnig was born in 1970 and has been managing director of the BSW - Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V. (German Solar Industry Association) since early 2006. The association represents the interests of the solar technology and solar storage industry in Germany and is based in Berlin. Previously, he spent nine years as managing director of the Unternehmensvereinigung Solarwirtschaft (UVS) (German Solar Industry Association), Prior to this, he spent nine years as managing director of the German Solar Industry Association (UVS), which he played a key role in founding and which merged with its sister association BSi to form BSW in 2006. In this role, he was instrumental in the creation of the EEG, the EEWärmeG and the first federal subsidy program for solar power storage. Körnig began his professional career in the 1990s as an employee of the environmental protection organization Greenpeace, as a journalist, and as a company founder.
Since 2006, Carsten Körnig has also been Vice President of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE).
Christian Menke
Christian Menke has been working as a policy and solar technology advisor at the German Solar Industry Association since December 2019. He focuses on topics related to ground-mounted PV, the electricity market, and the further development of the funding framework (CfD). Prior to this, he worked for several years at the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses on topics related to energy, mobility, and sustainability.
Benedikt Fischer
Benedikt Fischer has been working as a consultant for solar technology and law at the German Solar Industry Association since May 2023 and is a lecturer in renewable energies at HTW Berlin. Previously, he worked in plant planning and installation at Solarwerkstatt Berlin and as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, and the EEG|KWKG clearing house.
Martin Rothert
Martin Rothert studied electrical engineering and environmental sciences at the University of Aachen. After completing his studies, he began his professional career in the energy sector, working for a small German energy supplier from 1993 to 1995. In 1995, he joined the Solar Energy Institute ISET in Kassel, where he spent seven years contributing to research and development in the field of renewable energy. In 2002, Mr. Rothert moved to SMA, where he led product management for residential and commercial storage inverters for more than a decade. Today, he works as a senior expert focusing on standards as well as committee work related to storage systems and grid connection regulations. In this role, he is actively involved in the specialist group for grids and storage at BSW, the German Solar Industry Association, and participates in various project groups at VDE-FNN in Germany and at CENELEC on a European level.
