The session shows how new developments are emerging with solar-electric heat (infrared heating systems, domestic hot water preparation, electric direct heating, and surface heating systems). While electricity used to be considered too valuable to be 'burned' for heat, today there are surplus electricity supplies that need to be utilized. In particular, the combination of photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and infrared heating offers significant opportunities: it increases the self-consumption of solar power, reduces external energy demand, and makes dynamic electricity tariffs more attractive.
