BELECTRIC Provides Solar System for Netherland’s First Green Hybrid Power Plant

Industry News – Wednesday, May 27, 2020

German solar power specialist BELECTRIC is building a 38MW solar farm for the Haringvliet Zuid Energy Park in South Holland.

The large-scale farm is combined with a wind farm of 22 MW and a battery storage system of 12 MW and will cover about 30 hectares on the island Goeree-Overflakke. While the construction of this first green hybrid power plant of the Netherlands, led by Vattenfall, has already begun, BELECTRIC also plans on assuming the photovoltaic system’s operation and maintenance.

“The Netherlands is currently one of the most dynamic – and innovative – markets in Europe,” says Ingo Alphéus, CEO of BELECTRIC Solar & Battery GmbH. “The BELECTRIC solar farm complements the power generation profile of the wind farm, so that there are significantly fewer peaks. These components are combined with a battery storage system to produce a utility-scale green power plant – one which will play an important role in stabilising the power grid.”
