The global supply chain problems caused by the pandemic, as well as product innovations and optimizations have been causing a drop in production costs of PV components in Europe over the last few years.
Innovations are driving the development and production of increasingly powerful and cost-effective solar cells and modules, as is evident in the trajectory from multi-busbar technology to half-cut cell modules to solar tiles and shingles.
The amended German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), which came into force on January 1, 2021, makes on-site consumption even more worthwhile, especially for smaller and medium-sized PV installations.
