Job description
The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Our approximately 1,400 employees work towards a sustainable, economic, secure and socially just energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute to this with our main research areas of energy supply, energy distribution, energy storage and energy use. Through outstanding research results, successful industrial projects, company spin-offs and global collaborations, we are shaping the sustainable transformation of the energy system.

What you do:
As a group leader you will be involved in our various projects on the following topics
- Photovoltaics
- Energy efficient buildings
- Solar thermal power plants and industrial processes
- Hydrogen technologies
- Electrical energy storage
- Power Electronics, Grids and Intelligent Systems
- You will be significantly involved in the establishment of a new group. This includes the selection and recruitment of scientific staff, including at least one PhD student, and their supervision.
- Your tasks also include the establishment of a thematic network with industrial partners and research institutions.
- You will be involved in the acquisition of industry funding and publicly funded projects and will manage these projects.
- You will also attend conferences and trade fairs.
- Ideally, you can write and submit invention disclosures.
What you bring to the table:
- You have a university degree in the STEM field or a comparable field.
- You already have sound professional experience in at least one of the above-mentioned fields.
- You can develop visions, strategies and the corresponding goals and inspire your team for them.
