Germany’s most pro-active utilities regarding the energy transition

Bonn/Munich, May 23, 2017: As part of the project ‘Utilities and the Energy Transition‘ EuPD Research analyzed the entirety of the nearly 1.300 German utility companies. The best among them will now be awarded for their portfolio of products, services and information regarding the energy transition.

For the first time the official award ceremony for the ‘Energy Transition Award‘ will be held on June 1st, 2017, honoring utility companies for their commitment to the energy transition. The stage for the ceremony will be the globally leading solar trade fair Intersolar Europe. The awards will be presented as part of the ‘Smart Renewable Energy Forum’. The award categories comprise electricity, heating, mobility, energy efficiency and energy transition.

Between the beginning of February and mid April 2017 Bonn based market and economic research company EuPD Research analyzed all nearly 1.300 German utilities based on a newly developed quality model. „This project is unique in all of Germany and thus shows the energy transition has reached the German utility companies in all its various aspects,“ says project manager Dr Martin Ammon. „The utilities have realized that the energy transition opens up many possibilities to occupy new business areas.“
