Small islands and remote areas face increased costs for energy, water, and waste, which is exacerbated by climate change. To enhance resilience and foster socio-economic development, scaling up renewables, implementing decentralized smart grids, and integrating storage solutions are becoming crucial strategies. Islands and remote areas that serve as test beds are proof of decarbonization being feasible. This panel discussion provides a platform for specific insights from islands and remote areas. It will shed light on the transformative role of renewables in empowering communities, accelerating transitions, and serving as models for sustainable development.
We would like to welcome you to this session, which concludes the Intersolar Europe Conference and the Off-Grid topic block it contains, and heralds the second day of Off-Grid Technologies, the practice-oriented Off-Grid Workshop. Further information on the Off-Grid Workshop will be available soon.
