Technology Arena presents new manufacturing technology

Exhibitors in Hall B3 will present their machinery and equipment for wafer, cell and module manufacturing. Exhibition visitors can listen to presentations on the latest developments in photovoltaic manufacturing at the PV Production and Technology Arena.

Presentations held in the PV Production and Technology Arena in Hall B3, booth no. B3.168 will provide information on the expected advances in photovoltaic production and technology development in the future. Both leading manufacturers of production systems and technology companies will present their new developments here. The economical use of raw materials and the automation of wafer, cell and module manufacturing are regarded as key to the falling costs of solar energy. Suppliers have been integrating different machinery into turnkey production lines with various degrees of automation for some time, thereby reinforcing the trend toward integrated solutions with shorter and more rapid processes in photovoltaic manufacturing. In Hall B3, Intersolar Europe 2010 offers its specialist visitors the opportunity to find out about the latest technological developments.

The Technology Arena is presented by the PV Group, which represents photovoltaics suppliers within SEMI, the internationally leading association for the semiconductor industry. Twenty percent of its members already provide raw materials, production technologies and services for the manufacture of environmentally friendly solar energy.

The Arena also provides the opportunity to find out about SEMI’s standardization projects in collaboration with the industry. Consistent standards, for example in automatic wafer and cell transport systems, communications equipment on production machinery or test procedures for contaminants are intended to optimize manufacturing processes in the photovoltaics industry and make them considerably more efficient. German cell manufacturers have already prepared a joint strategy paper, informing clients and suppliers of potential technological developments in the coming years and providing the basis for discussions on necessary standards for the industry.
