SOLON SE – SOLON Black 160/05 (Germany)
The latest product from SOLON, the ‘SOLON Black 160/05’ roof-integrated system, can be used with all common roof coverings. The photovoltaic modules from SOLON with integrated installation system replace the previous bricks and roof tiles and can be screwed directly to the roofing battens. Individual modules overlap just like conventional tiles to make sure that water runs off optimally.
Few individual components are required to install the ‘SOLON Black 160/05’. Additional parts like a sarking membrane or module clamps are not necessary. The system is therefore considerably easier to install than traditional systems.
The weight of the integrated installation system is not borne by small points, but is uniformly spread over the whole roof area. The lightness of the system also makes it suitable for older buildings with thin roof beams. In this way it is possible to make roofs accessible which were previously unsuitable for traditional solar roof installations.
Particular highlights of the ‘SOLON Black 160/05’ roof-integrated system are the completely black modules, the black side panels and the black polyutherane frames which make the system aesthetically pleasing. The polyurethane framing is an example of a technical innovation which has so far been little used in the photovoltaics industry. SOLON, in cooperation with Bayer MaterialScience, has developed a special process for the new product, enabling the production of solar modules with polyutherane frames.
The Intersolar AWARD jury were impressed by the fact that the system offers a worthwhile substitute for conventional roofing, is easy to install and simultaneously complies with strict aesthetic demands. Along with two other companies, SOLON has been awarded the Intersolar AWARD 2009 in the photovoltaics category.
